    I don't know if they resolved the discrepancy. They did a careful measurement which agreed with the modern, smaller radius; but there's no explanation for why so many of the earlier measurements clustered around a certain larger value. They seem to be saying the earlier measurements were just wrong.

    That may be the case, but it's a little unsatisfying.
